LIST OF PHYSICAL LABORATORIES:

BASIC ELECTRONICS LAB

In this Lab, Experiments based on the Electronic devices Characteristics, Network theorems, Simple Amplifier circuits and their response is practiced. All basic Electronic devices and their characteristics, applications can be studied. Using these devices the small electronic circuits can be constructed and characteristics can be analysed. This is equipped with PSPICE software, to simulate the designs of Analog circuits.

 

SOLID STATE CIRCUITS LAB

In this Lab, Experiments based on Electronic circuits and advanced analog electronics can be studied, which enable the students to learn and to have hands on training on basic operations in circuit design  such as soldering ,testing and assembling the electronic components. Experiments provide exposure to the students with hands on experience on various basic engineering practices with Electronics components and devices.

 

INTEGRATED CIRCUITS LAB

In this lab experiments pertaining to linear and digital integrated circuits can be done. This lab is equipped with necessary hardware trainer kits and software to design and verify the digital and linear circuits.

 

RF & MICROWAVE LAB

This is a specialized Communication engineering lab exclusively for ECE students. This lab is equipped with expensive microwave components.

MICROPROCESSOR LAB

This state of art lab includes all the facilities required to impart training in Microprocessors and related peripherals. Softwares like UMPS, Keil C, MP LAB, Masm 86 are utilized by the students to do projects. This Lab also been provided with LPC2148 Embedded  Kit, Zigbee RF Module(TXR & RXR), PWM based LED Interface board.

 

VLSI & DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING LAB

This lab is equipped with adequate numbers of computers with MATLAB software and EDA tools and DSP kit TMS320C5416 DSK with CCS which reveals an exposure to the students on latest applications of signal processing.

 

NETWORK LABORATORY

This lab is equipped with necessary hardware kits and softwares NS2, Java to learn connectivity of network nodes and to analyse the performance of networking protocols and their routing.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs):

B.E (ECE) graduates of SMIT are able to:

PEO1: To provide the students with a strong foundation in the required sciences in order to pursue studies in Electronics and Communication Engineering.

PEO2: To gain adequate knowledge to become good professional in electronic and communication engineering associated industries, higher education and research.

PEO3:  To develop attitude in lifelong learning, applying and adapting new ideas and technologies as their field evolves.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES:

UG Engineering students by the time of graduation will be able to:

  1. Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  2. Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineeringsciences.
