The objective of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Program is to produce graduates able to:

1.Foundation of Electrical Engineering:
Ability to understand the principles and working of electrical components, circuits, systems and control that are forming a part of power generation, transmission, distribution, utilization, conservation and energy saving. Students can assess the power management, auditing, crisis and energy saving aspects.
2.Foundation of Mathematical Concepts:
Ability to apply mathematical methodologies to solve problems related with electrical engineering using appropriate engineering tools and algorithms.
3.Computing and Research Ability:
Ability to use knowledge in various domains to identify research gaps and hence to provide solution which leads to new ideas and innovations

Electrical and Electronics Engineering
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering established in the year 1996, is taking all efforts to meet the objectives of achieving technical excellence in the core areas of Power, Energy and Control Engineering. Based on the infrastructure facilities and faculty strength, the department was accorded approval by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai offering both UG programme (1996) and Post Graduate programme in Embedded System Technologies (2010), Power Systems Engineering (2011).
To meet the needs and challenges of the present world scenario, the department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in SMIT has a firm commitment to develop and produce indomitable Electrical Engineers of technically sound and combined with excellent leadership and life learning skills.
