SC/ST committee is formed and functioning since 2015 Objectives:

To create and maintain safe, healthy and supportive environment for SC / ST students
To address the issues of students, belonging to schedule caste / schedule tribes in the Institute and to prevent atrocities against them.
To raise their level of Comprehension of basic subjects to provide a stronger foundation for further academic work
To strengthen their knowledge, skills & attitudes in such subjects where quantitative & qualitative techniques and laboratory activities are involve, so that the necessary guidance and training provided under the programme may enable the students to come up to the level necessary for pursuing higher studies efficiently to reduce their failure and dropout
To provide career guidance and psychological counseling for capacity building to those who are in need of such counseling.
The Institution is fully committed to the highest standard of excellence and transparency in providing the benefits to the people belonging to SC’s/ST’s.

Responsibilities:

To look into the complaints if any received from the concerned students belonging to SC / ST

Various functionalities

To look for special schemes and facilities for SC/ST and differently disabled
To monitor and endeavor, resolve issues/grievances relating to SC/ST students at institute
To formulate schemes for student development including Conference, Training etc

Students from these communities are not able to attend the competitive examinations well, so in order to prepare well for the competitive exam, institute will give them an opportunity by giving Free coaching for competitive exams and give suggestion to apply for loans for students of the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes.
Also our institution would cover coaching for higher studies as well as Central and State government-held exams for various services.

Roles & Responsibilities of the Arts & Cultural committee

The Arts and Cultural Committee shall be responsible for all intra and inter collegiate cultural event in the college.
To Plan and schedule cultural events for the academic year.
To prepare budget for all cultural events and take necessary steps for its approval.
First year students share their cultural traditions and practices, contributing to a richer, more diverse educational experience.
Actively participate in cultural activities and showing interest with enthusiasm.
Collaborate effectively with all students from diverse backgrounds, learning to appreciate different working styles and perspectives.

ENTREPRENEURSHIP DEVELOPMENT CELL

The entrepreneurship cell (EDC) of SMIT is a student – run body that aims at instilling the spirit of entrepreneurship among the students. The core objective of EDC-SMIT is to help the students to realize the importance and the power of entrepreneurship through workshops, guest lectures, innovative games and competitions. They are supported with necessary resources such as fund, mentoring, consultation and networking. The cell was inaugurated on 7th October 2017 by Dr. G. Ravikumar, Director, CED, Anna University, Chennai. Our EDC cell is connected with MIT HUB, Anna University and it is governed by EDII (TN). The cell is planning to conduct a series of activities in the forthcoming years. Some of them include inviting entrepreneurs and business school professors to teach the basics and nuances of entrepreneurship. We have also planned to have business plan competitions and promote new initiatives by the student members.

To produce successful entrepreneurs imbibed with innovative skills and ethical business practices contributing to the development of the society and growth of the nation.
To inspire, foster and nurture Innovation and Entrepreneurship amongst students and staff.

MISSION

To promote the culture and spirit of entrepreneurship among students and motivate them to become entrepreneurs.
To strengthen teaching and training activities for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Anti-Ragging Committee is formed to prevent and address ragging. Ragging is the conduct of a personnel that teases, harasses, or disrupt a student’s academic or personal life. Involving in any act that causes academic disruption, financial extorsion, sexual abuse or verbal abuse is considered as ragging. The anti-ragging committee is responsible for ensuring compliance with ragging regulations and laws, investigating complaints, monitoring the performance of the Anti-Ragging Squad, developing strategies to curb the menace of ragging, and conducting awareness programs.
