Professional Code of Conduct

- An employee of the Institute shall devote his/her whole time to the service of the Institute and shall not engage directly or indirectly in any trade or business or in another Institute or any other work, which is likely to interfere with the proper discharge of his/her duties. This provision shall not apply to academic work like giving guest lectures, giving talks and any other work undertaken with prior permission of the Principal.
- Every Employee shall, at all times maintain absolute integrity and devotion to duty and shall do nothing against the dignity and prestige of the institute, particularly in his/her relationship with the Principal, Faculty, Students and Visitors to the Institute.
- No Employee shall, without obtaining the previous sanction of the Principal, ask for or accept or in any way participate in the raising of any subscription or other pecuniary assistance in pursuance of any object whatsoever except for routine, farewell and felicitation connected with the institute.
- No staff member of the institute shall, engage himself/herself in coaching privately, students for any remuneration.
- No employee shall, except with the previous sanction of the Principal, accept any remunerative or honorary work not connected with the institute.
- No employee shall, except with the permission of the Principal, own wholly or in part, conduct or participate in editing or management of any newspapers or other periodical publications.
- No employee shall, while being on duty, take part in politics which includes holding office, elective or otherwise in any political party or standing for election to the state legislature or the Parliament or take part in any other election as independent or on any party ticket.
- No employee shall take part in any act or movement, such as strike, incitement there to or similar activity in connection with any matter pertaining to his service or to any other matter, which tends to bring the institute to disrepute, nor shall he/she resort to media with his/her grievances.
- An employee shall not, without the knowledge and approval of the Principal and Management, have recourse to any organization/ authority, court, or to the press for vindication of this grievance.
- The Governing Body in exercising the provisions of these rules shall exercise the power, after giving the employee concerned, an opportunity to explain his/her case.
- No employee may abstain himself/herself from duty without prior permission. In case of emergency of proceeding on leave without prior permission, he/she must explain the circumstance, which were beyond his/her control before rejoining duty.
- Every employee shall be at work punctually at the timings fixed unless permitted otherwise by his/her supervisor.
- No employee shall after reporting himself/herself for work, be found absent during the period of work assigned to them.

However the above rules do not apply to employees appointed on deputation, contract basis and persons appointed temporarily for a specific period.

Misconduct

The following acts of commission/omission shall be treated as misconduct:

- - Failure to exercise efficient supervision on the subordinate staff.
  - Disobedience to any lawful order of his/her superior officer.
  - Gross negligence in teaching or other duty assigned.
  - No outsider shall be allowed to get inside the premises of the Institute or to damage the Institute property.
  - Intemperate habits affecting the efficiency of the teaching work.
  - Any act involving moral tribute is punishable under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code.
  - Failure on the part of an employee to give full and correct information regarding his/her provision history and violating any other specific directions or instructions given by his/her superior officer.

Disciplinary Proceedings

No order imposing any punishment on a Member shall be imposed except after: The member will be informed in writing by the Principal in regard to the allegations on which disciplinary action is proposed to be taken and is given an opportunity to make representation that he/she may wish to make in person orally or in writing. Such representation, if any, is taken in to consideration by the authority competent to impose penalty.

Disciplinary Actions and appeals:

These rules shall apply to all Employees of the Institute. The following penalties may, for sufficient reasons be imposed upon the employees of the institute namely,

1. Censure
2. Fine
3. With holding of increments/promotion
4. Reduction to a lower post or a lower stage in time scale.
5. Recovery from pay of the whole or part of any pecuniary loss caused to the loss institute by negligence of breach of orders
6. Suspension
7. Compulsory Retirement.
8. Dismissal from the Institute service.

General Rules and Regulations for Students
Performance and Conduct in Campus.

Students should be punctual and regular for lecture classes and submit necessary academic work such as assignments, record works in time.
Students should maintain silence during lecture classes and laboratories and should not wander outside.
Students are encouraged to maintain good academic progress and conduct. Students are expected to develop friendly relation with the inmates, faculty and higher authorities and should not use unparliamentary words during conversation with peer group.
Students are required to wear Identity Cards inside the college campus and during representations outside the campus. If students are not wearing ID cards, he/she will be considered as an act of indiscipline.
Students are expected to handle the laboratory equipments carefully with precaution as per the laid down instructions. If failed, students will have to pay for the breakages, if any.
Students are advised to be aware of the fire extinguisher and main switches of the laboratories.
Any malfunctioning and damage of equipments should be informed to the lab instructors.
Students are expected to submit the records regularly after the completion of each experiment.
Students are asked to keep the observation note books ready before the commencement of any experiment.
Ragging in any form is illegal and it is strictly forbidden. Severe action will be taken against those students who indulge in ragging, strike or any other undesirable activities.
Students are asked to follow the dress code strictly.
Boys – Formal pants and tucked in shirts with collar (T-shirts and Jeans are not permitted)
Girls – Salwar kameez or Churidars with dupattas neatly pinned. (Half sarees, skirts, jeans, frocks or any tight fitting dress are not permitted)
No loose garments are permitted in the laboratories. All students should wear overcoats in the laboratories.
Students should not wear Hawaii slippers from the point of view of safety and decency.
Attendance in test and model exam is compulsory. Leave will be granted in exceptional cases for valid reasons with prior permission from parents or medical reasons. Absentees in test or model exam will be fined.
A candidate will be permitted to appear for the university examinations, only if he/she
Will have required attendance
Maintains satisfactory academic progress

Maintain good conduct or character
Attendance and leave.

The attendance rules are given below and will be strictly followed.

Below 74%: Not permitted to appear for university examinations. Detained in the respective year/semester of the course and to repeat the course next year.
75% and above: Allowed to appear for university examinations and proceed to next semester.

Students should take leave with prior permission before applying leave, or leave letter should be submitted within two days after reporting to the college.
Leave letters should be counter signed by parents/guardians/hostel warden. Leave letters on medical grounds should be accompanied by Medical Certificate.
All the students should be present on the reopening day.
Students will be punished for the misconduct such as absence on the reopening day, unruly behavior in campus .
Attendance should not fall below 75% in the semester for reasons other than medical grounds. Medical leave will be accepted in genuine cases with proper medical certificate, submitted immediately after the leave. However, even in medical leave case, the attendance should not fall below 65% which is minimum for attending University examinations.
Internal Assessment of 20 marks will be calculated based on the marks scored in the tests/assignments/attendance.
Slow learners are identified and reviewed in the class committee meeting which is conducted every month. In the case of default, counselling will be given individually to improve the academic performance.
Mobile Phones are not allowed/used inside the lecture halls.
Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the campus and hostel premises.
The use of alcohol and drugs are strictly prohibited. The student found using or having used alcohol/drinks/drugs or any other intoxicants will be dismissed form the college.
Students are advised to give their suggestions and feedback regarding their difficulties either to the class in-charge/HOD or Principal or through the suggestion box which is provided at the entrance of the Administrative Block.
Loss/theft of ID cards/library cards/change of address or contact numbers should be informed to Hod/college office without delay.
Students are advised to park vehicles in specified areas, wear helmets while riding two wheelers and should observe speed limits while riding/ driving within the campus.
Students are advised to maintain general hygiene in canteen and throw wastes in dustbins only.
Students staying in hostel are asked to follow the rules and regulations of the hostel.
Students are asked to maintain discipline and carry bus pass while travelling in the college bus.
