Program Educational Objectives

  • Are proficient in the fundamentals of engineering science, analytical and quantitative reasoning, and design in the context of civil and environmental engineering
  • Are able to apply these skills in developing safe, sustainable, economical and environmentally sound solutions to civil engineering problems either within the profession or through post-graduate research
  • Grow professionally in their careers through continued development of technical and management skills, achievement of professional licensure, and assumption of roles of responsibility in professional service
  • Understand the needs and represent the diversity of the program’s constituencies*, thereby serving the needs of society and the profession

Program Outcomes


  1. An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering;
  2. An ability to design and conduct experiments as well as analyze and interpret data;
  3. An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within ealistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability;
