M.E Computer Aided Design
This Department one of the part of Mechanical Engineering. Computer aided learning packages on different subjects are available for self-learning . The Department is fully equipped with the state of art of laboratories having CAD/CAM interface,  Modeling and Analysis Software's (IDEAS – NX series, CATIA, SOLID WORKS, IRONCAD, AUTO CAD, COSMOS, ANSYS).

All these courses are affiliated to the Anna University. Apart from meeting the curricular requirements of the affiliated university, the department organizes programmes to provide the students with industrial and practical experience through training and project work in industries so that they are able to meet the industrial requirements and face real life situations. Industrial visits are arranged for students to gain practical exposure. In addition to guest lectures and panel discussions are held with industries of repute.

Realizing the employment potential for Mechanical Engineers is more in the area of computer Aided Design and Drawing the department has developed a very well equipped Computer Aided Design Laboratory.
  • Apart from the university Examinations, the department regularly conducts two unit tests and one Model examination in every semester and the students' performance is continuously evaluated.
  • These tests improve their understanding of the subject and help them to perform better in the university examinations.
Student Area
  • Department conducts regular seminars, at which practicing engineers deliver lectures on current engineering techniques for the benefit of students.
  • Quiz programmes are conducted to improve student's understanding of the subject.
  • Students are given opportunity to downloads information on engineering trends in ME CAD by surfing the Internet and present the information at seminars in their classes.
  • This helps them to understand the latest technology and also improves their communication skills. Students are taken on industrial visits around Chennai to see how the various engineering techniques that they have studied have been put to use.
  • Modern teaching aids are used for enhancing the quality of teaching Computer aided software packages with multiple choice questions are used by the student for self- study and evaluation.
  • The students are exposed to the practical and industrial aspects of the subjects through laboratory works and periodic industrial visits, the students are encouraged to participate and present technical papers in National and state level seminars.
  • This greatly improves the employment potential of the students. Department also provides guidance for the students appearing for GATE or going abroad for higher studies.
